BEACH TOWEL & LIGHT CLOTHING: - If you plan on finding a patch of sand to lie on, pack a beach towel (sarongs are good too!). Remember that you are holidaying in the Tropical North so you don't need a lot of clothes - unless you are staying on after your charter. Most days you will find yourself in swim-wear, sarong, t-shirt and shorts. In winter we suggest you put in a set of warmer clothes for evenings on deck and always try and bring soft sided bags as they can be folded up and stored away. If you have to bring hard cases - let us know in advance and we can arrange to store them for you.
STINGER SUIT:- Advisable if you're planning to swim outside the stinger enclosures during the months of October to May. We have adult & child size Stinger Suits available to buy at $35.00 each. Let us know what sizes you require in advance and we can have them put aside for you.
CHILDRENS LIFE JACKETS / CHILDRENS SNORKEL & FINS: - Surveyed life jackets are supplied in adult sizes as standard to comply with each boat ratio. Please advise us early if you require children's life vests as they are in limited supply. Children's snorkel and fins are hard to come by and because kids are in different growing stages we suggest if your children are 12 yrs or younger that you bring your own - they are more likely to be happy little campers than flopping about in something that is too big.
INSECT REPELLANT & SUNSCREEN: - Both items are an absolute must when visiting the tropics - even in winter. A light long sleeved shirt is also a useful item to have handy.
SUN GLASSES:- It can get bright out there!!! Polarised sunglasses are best, especially when anchoring.
HATS OR CAPS: - These are a must especially in summer. The old saying of Slip - Slop - Slap never goes out of fashion.
CAMERA:- Of course you wouldn't forget this one but extra batteries are usually forgotten. Underwater cameras are also great if planning on doing some diving or snorkeling.
SAND/SEA SHOES: - Ideal if they are old or shoes that can get wet. Although barefoot aboard the boat is often best, it is useful to have a pair of shoes suitable for bush and beach walking.
FISHING GEAR:- Fishing gear is not supplied on board our vessels as peoples preferences are so diverse. Bait and fishing supplies can be bought at either Breakwater Marina, Townsville before you depart and both Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island and Casement Bay, Great Palm Island during your charter. You can also pick up ice at all these places.
BOOKS / MAGAZINES:- You get plenty of time for reading so remember your book! The cockpit is an ideal place to lie down, relax and read. We have a range of books which are available free of charge for the duration of your charter if you leave yours at home.
CARDS / BOARD GAMES:- Board games and cards are a great way of passing the hours on holiday (especially after dinner) and a great way of getting to know your family or friends better than you ever thought you would.
SEASICKNESS REMEDIES: - If you suffer motion sickness bring patches, tablets or whatever works for you. The first 48 hours always seem to be the worst if you are prone to this affliction, dosing up before the charter is a must. For natural remedies - Ginger and Peppermint is said to work quite well whether in the form of jelly's or tea. Peppermint oil on a tissue (we've been told) works well at sea in rough weather.
CHOCOLATE:- Even if you think you could live without it, you'd be surprised how much you miss it when you're in the middle of the ocean or parked off a deserted island and you didn't bring any!
MUSIC:- Every vessel has a CD player and when you're out at sea you'll want to sing as loudly as possible so bring your favourites along. The only people you are usually going to offend are your fellow passengers.
GPS: - If you have one bring it along; if not you can hire one from us for $60 per charter - but get in early as they book out fast.
MOBILE PHONE:- If you have one, bring your phone and charger (cigarette lighter type) as coverage exists over much of the area. Don't forget to leave your number with us before you head off in case of any emergencies while at sea.
