When you choose a sailing holiday with Tropic Sail, you will be provided with an extensive cruising guide of all the islands and their vast number of beaches, bays and best anchorages to take advantage of.

Magnetic Island

Beaches - Uncrowded and Alluring

Many secluded and private beaches have been formed by rocky headlands that have come down to meet the sea, some of these only accessible by foot or boat .  Some of these exclusive sandy gems include:-  the sheltered sanctuary of Rocky Bay that rests between rugged headlands;  Radical Bay is a serene oasis tucked away behind the hills;  Balding Bay, popular during school holidays;  Arthur and Florence Bay are renowned for their colourful reef life and Arthur Bay is home to two of the many historic shipwrecks around the island;  West Point is a popular beach to watch the sun go down;  and Five Beaches Bay offers you just that - five pristine and secluded beaches away from the crowds and only accessible by boat and great for snorkeling.

Bays - World Heritage Marine Park

Fringing reefs of hard and soft corals can be found off the shores of several bays such as Cockle, Picnic, Nelly, Geoffrey, Arthur and Florence and are home to more than 150 species of fish life and invertebrates.  Magnetic Island waters also nourish extensive sea grass meadows that are fundamental in providing habitat for dugong and sea turtle populations and as essential nursery incubators for numerous fish species.  Regular sightings of turtles, dolphins, whales in season, and the occasional dugong are common-place around these beautiful bays.

Anchorages - Private Moorings and Sheltered Waters

Many of the anchorages around Magnetic Island are ideal for boats in most weather conditions.  Tropic Sail will advise you of the best bays to take advantage of depending on weather patterns at the beginning and during the course of your charter.  Some of the more popular anchorages for cruising yachties are Arthur, Florence, Radical and Balding Bays for their privacy and sheltering headlands.  Tropic Sail also has two private moorings available to their charterers in Horseshoe Bay for those that wish to go ashore and get involved in the varied social experiences the island has to offer.
